Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dynamic and skilled Science Technician to join our team at a vibrant Secondary School in Kirklees, commencing September 2024. Role Overview:

  • As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Science department, assisting teachers in delivering engaging practical lessons and ensuring the smooth running of laboratory facilities.
  • You will be responsible for preparing equipment, materials, and resources for experiments, as well as maintaining laboratory safety standards to create a conducive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setting up and dismantling laboratory equipment and apparatus for practical lessons.
  • Preparing chemicals, solutions, and specimens as required for experiments.
  • Ensuring all equipment and materials are stored safely and securely when not in use.
  • Conducting regular checks and maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
  • Assisting teaching staff during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance to students as needed.
  • Collaborating with the Science department to develop and enhance practical resources and experiments.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school or educational setting is essential.
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A passion for science education and supporting students' learning journey.
