Accelerate Teaching is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced Science Technician to join a vibrant secondary school in Leeds. This is a fantastic role for an individual who is passionate about science and eager to support the academic and practical learning of students. The position is set to commence in September 2024.

As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in the Science Department, ensuring that all practical lessons are well-prepared and run smoothly. You will work closely with teachers to provide a safe and stimulating environment for students to explore and enjoy science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment and materials for practical lessons.
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective science lessons.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the laboratory.
  • Manage the inventory of lab supplies and order new materials as required.
  • Assist in the preparation and setting up of experiments and demonstrations.
  • Provide technical support during lessons, including troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Help develop new experiments and practical activities to enhance the curriculum.
  • Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience as a Science Technician, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to support and engage with students.
  • A passion for science and education.
