About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, rapidly growing company and contribute to their success. As the Scientific Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving our clients business forward, identifying new commercial opportunities, and expanding our cleints market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Growth: Comprehend core value drivers, spearhead new business pursuits, and identify lucrative commercial ventures to enhance revenue and market share
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including research scientists and non-scientists.
  • Sales Opportunities: Identify new sales opportunities through scientific engagement, guiding customers and decision-makers in designing their projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage stakeholders and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Project Insight: Work closely with the R&D team to gain insights on new developments, design projects, and bridge the gap between customer needs and our client activities.
  • Primary Contact: Serve as a primary point of contact for scientific inquiries and potential collaborations.
  • Scientific Communication: Communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Industry Monitoring: Monitor and report on the latest scientific advancements relevant to our research areas.
  • Proposal Support: Draft and edit proposals for new projects.
  • Grant Applications: Identify and apply for grants.
  • Event Participation: Coordinate and participate in scientific meetings, conferences, and presentations.
  • This is a full Time Permanent position
  • You will be based from our clients Cambridgeshire head office

Qualifications & Experience

  • The successful Scientific Business Development Manager will ideally have 3-6 years experience in a similar role
  • Education: Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in a scientific discipline such as biology or biochemistry.
  • Basic understanding of business development and project management principles, strategy, and design.
  • Commercial awareness and market dynamics understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Outstanding business writing and proofing skills.
  • Passion for science and marketing, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Creative thinking to identify new customers and growth opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to reach challenging targets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a winning mentality allied with kindness.
  • Curiosity, energy, creativity, and bravery with a strong desire to help build our clients culture.
  • Good time management skills
  • Live within a commutable distance to our clients Cambridgeshire office
