Secondary School SEN Teaching Assistant 

Contract Type: Full-time - September Start Salary: £85 per day

Are you passionate about supporting students in their educational journey? As a Secondary School SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Here’s what the role entails:

  1. Personalised Support:

    • Offer 1:1 assistance to secondary school pupils with special educational needs, adapting teaching techniques to foster their confidence and independence.
    • Understand the specific challenges faced by older students and provide tailored support.
  2. Collaboration and Planning:

    • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver activities relevant to secondary education.
    • Support pupils during transitions, exams, and daily routines within the secondary school context.
  3. Emotional Well-being and Trauma-Informed Care:

    • Help pupils regulate their behaviour and emotions, especially those who have experienced trauma.
    • Encourage positive interactions and social skills, recognising the unique needs of adolescents.
  4. Assessment and Holistic Approach:

    • Contribute to formal SEND assessments, considering both academic and emotional aspects.
    • Share valuable insights with families and home schools, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of each student’s needs.
  5. Swift Return to Education:

    • Our goal is to facilitate a swift return to long-term education settings, even for students who require additional emotional support.
  6. Teamwork and Compassion:

    • Collaborate with other teaching assistants, teachers, and support staff within the secondary school environment.
    • Experience the fulfilment of making a difference in the lives of older students.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge Level:
    • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (usually GCSE or equivalent) in maths or English.
    • Familiarity with secondary education curriculum and classroom dynamics.
