Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant - Leeds

We are currently seeking a compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in a secondary school setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people by fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Students

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEND, adapting learning materials to meet their specific needs.
  • Work one on one or in small groups to reinforce lesson content and develop students’ confidence.
  • Assist students in developing essential life skills, promoting independence and self-esteem.
  • Implement EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) strategies and differentiated learning techniques.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, ensuring students feel supported and valued.

Supporting Teachers

  • Assist with the preparation of tailored learning resources and activities.
  • Support the teacher in managing behaviour effectively, using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Provide regular feedback on students' progress, identifying areas where additional support may be required.
  • Help set up and maintain a structured, accessible, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teachers, and external specialists to ensure the best outcomes for students.
