Role: Sector Marketing Manager– Wakefield 

Salary: up to £42403K per annum

WorkingHours: Monday – Friday 37 hours per week- flexible hours with core hours being 10am-4pm

Elevation Recruitment Group - Marketing Division are excited to be working exclusively with a public sector, not for profit organisation. 

General overview:

To lead the development and implementation of the public sector marketing plans that support the business and commercial strategy.

Working proactively with senior managers in the Procurement Services team to lead the development and delivery of market-leading marketing activity that meet strategic objectives.

To build the reputation as well as brand image, by increasing awareness and understanding of the products and services on offer. This will include improving the effectiveness of acquisition activity, as well as building meaningful engagement with existing customers.

To work closely with the Content Marketing Officers to deliver creative campaigns and brand activations, drive engagement, and traffic, and connect with suppliers and partners to deliver collaboration opportunities while maximising revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct reports – 1 (Content Marketing Officer).
  • Accountable for contributory impact on the contractual rebate of £5m.
  • Contribute to commercial sales of £115m Marketing budgetary spend of £200-300k.
  • Monitoring progress and identifying and reporting exceptions and deviations from plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Responsibility for increasing market share and achieving KPIs, working closely with senior teams to develop and deliver winning plans.
  • Line Management of Marketing Content Officer.
  • Day-to-day ownership and end-to-end development and management of public sector marketing content and campaigns, costs and timelines.
  • Day to day management of internal and external supply partners covering: design, artwork production.
  • Responsibility for enhancing supplier relationships, delivering new revenue streams from digital merchandising, and creating supplier sales and marketing plans that maximises both sales growth and volume rebate opportunities.
  • Drive competitive intelligence initiatives across the organisation, gathering and analysing data on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to inform strategic decisions. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring our digital marketing efforts remain ahead of the curve and aligned with market demands.

Core Competencies

  • Extensive marketing planning to support delivery of the organisation strategy.
  • Full marketing responsibility for the education sector including forecasting, planning timelines to ensure marketing objectives met and business growth delivered.
  • Extensive cross-functional planning trading/procurement, sales, customer services, operational delivery to ensure effective marketing development.
  • Ability to react to ad-hoc requests from senior/strategic marketing colleagues, whilst ensuring progress against the sector strategy is not compromised.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and policies for the wider public sector sector in conjunction with the Senior Marketing Manager and overall organisation strategy.
  • Responsible for developing, planning, executing, and measuring best-in-class marketing activity across multiple channels to drive engagement and retention of our customer base, as well as attract new customers.
  • Develop and continuously improve plans and tactics to boost the organisation’s reputation in your sector and drive qualified traffic to the website.
  • Implement best practice in marketing to provide the sector team with an excellent capability that is both efficient and provides sufficient capacity for long-term growth.
  • Champion and lead a digital-first approach in your sector to support business growth of the organisation.
  • Oversee the development of valuable and engaging content for the website, blogs, and key publications that attracts and converts our target groups – take ownership of the bank of content for your sector, ensuring content fits with brand guidelines.
  • Closely monitor customer and competitor activity for your sector, as well as marketing performance, to ensure marketing plans are maintained and adapted to the changing landscapes.
  • Lead on the direction of marketing content and opportunities for developing engaging content that resonates with our sector customers and drives leads and revenue.
  • Responsible for ongoing development and success of email marketing campaigns, including end-to-end management from planning through to email build, delivery, reporting and continuous improvements to the email programs.
