About The Role
Purpose of Role:

To ensure that the security of the Old Royal Naval College is maintained to the highest possible standards at all times of the day & night, ensuring that the safety of all tenants, staff and visitors is maintained. To provide a highly visible and reassuring presence on site and be customer focused, reporting to the Security Manager and working as part of a team. Ensuring all actions are in accordance with the Assignment Instructions and policies of the OCS True Values - Trust, Respect, Unity and Empowerment.

Conditions of Work:

The shifts will comprise of 12 hour shifts a 3 day, 4 night, 3 rest days followed by a 4 day, 3 night, 4 rest days.

Working Hours:

Day Shifts are 0700-1900 hrs and Night Shifts are 1900-0700 hrs.

Overtime will be offered as available.

Main Duties:

 Overall security of the site by regular patrols of all internal and external areas, including car parks.

 CCTV Operation and investigation of incidents via the CCTV.

 Logbook entries for all incidents and notable events

 Responding to Fire and Intruder alarms as per the AI Instructions.

 Reporting all security / health and safety issues as well as near misses.

 Safekeeping of all keys and issuing of those required to authorised individuals, reporting all unreturned keys to the Security Manager (SM).

 Setting and unsetting building alarms as required.

 Vehicle management - checking in and out vehicles requiring access and managing the HVM Bollards.

 Attend to reported incidents on site immediately and take appropriate action.

 Investigate and report suspect items and follow the HOT principle.

 Report any faults or damage to the SM for follow up.

 Issue radios and keys as required, ensuring these are signed out and back in.

 Attending to deliveries and post, notifying the recipient as soon as possible.

 Operating the access control and security equipment, reporting all faults immediately to the SM.

 Sign in Contractor and Visitors.

 Log and report lost property.

 Reporting of all accidents and recording in the accident book.

 Follow building security protocols as required

 Maintain confidentiality at all times.

 To maintain a clean and tidy appearance of the security office at all times.

 Be able to give a clear and precise handover at the end of each shift, highlighting all events that occurred as well as all upcoming events.

Other Responsibilities:

* To be familiar with Counter Terrorism measures and participate in courses or learning as required.

* Be familiar with emergency procedures on site and know your responsibilities.

* To help to create a 'can do, will do, with pleasure' culture within all aspects of the team.

* Assist where necessary with any other reasonable tasks or duties when assigned by the Security Manager
