Teaching Assistant for Excellent SEMH Provision in Bristol - Primary and Secondary positions available

Location: BS10/BS11

Salary: £12.82 per hour / £19.3k pro rata salary

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary (with potential for permanent placement after 12 working weeks)

The school is a specialist education trust dedicated to supporting pupils experiencing social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). The school provides a fresh start for every child, promoting confidence, tolerance, and skills for success in society. The school have two sites covering primary and secondary, and an additional provision for complex ASD pupils. They are seeking a passionate, committed and adaptable individual to join them as a teaching assistant from September 2024. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programs.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, encouraging interaction and engagement.
  • Set high expectations, promote self-esteem, and foster independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to achieve learning goals and plan activities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback.
  • Promote positive behaviour and handle conflicts promptly.
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH and SEN.
  • Knowledge of autism is desirable.
  • Ability to manage children with SEMH and SEN effectively.
  • Passion for working with children whilst willingness to learn, develop and thrive within a school environment.
