SEN Community Tutor

  • Job Type: Part-time (15 hours per week)

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN Community Tutor to provide targeted educational support to a Year 6 student with significant challenges. The student experiences social communication difficulties, severe sensory processing issues, and dyspraxia, and requires support in Maths and English. This role is ideal for someone with experience in managing anxiety and ASD in an educational setting.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver tailored educational sessions in Maths and English, adapting teaching methods to suit the student's unique needs. The sessions willl also need to work on social communications and behaviours in social situations.
  • Implement effective strategies to enhance the student's social communication and interaction skills.
  • Collaborate with educational professionals and the student's family to assess progress and adjust educational plans accordingly.
  • Develop and facilitate activities that aid in sensory integration, helping the student cope with sensory sensitivities.
  • Provide emotional support and strategies to help manage the student's anxiety, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an SEN tutor or teacher, particularly with students facing ASD, anxiety, sensory processing difficulties, and dyspraxia.
  • Strong understanding of the educational techniques required for students with special educational needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a committed approach to fostering educational inclusion.
  • Relevant educational qualifications, preferably in Special Needs Education, Teaching, or a related field.
