SEN Support Staff

We are seeking dedicated SEN Support Staff to join a specialist SEN school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for individuals with direct or transferable experience in supporting children with special educational needs. We value additional training and experience working with specific additional needs and disabilities. This is a chance to make a significant impact in a rewarding environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Assist with the development of social skills and independence in students.
  • Employ a variety of strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of students.
  • Collaborate with other support staff, therapists, and professionals within the school setting.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your understanding of SEN.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in an SEN setting or a role with transferable skills.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Additional training or experience with specific disabilities is highly favourable.
