Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant Contract

Type: Full-time - September Start 

Salary: £85 per day

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role extends beyond academics. You’ll play a crucial part in supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with medical requirements. Here’s what the role entails:

Personalised Support:

  • Offer 1:1 assistance to pupils with special educational needs, adapting teaching techniques to foster their confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to implement individualised care plans for children with specific medical conditions.

Collaboration and Planning:

  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver activities.
  • Support pupils during transitions and daily routines, ensuring their medical needs are met.

Emotional Well-being and Social Skills:

  • Help pupils regulate their behaviour and emotions.
  • Encourage positive interactions, both academically and socially.

Assessment and Communication:

  • Contribute to formal SEND assessments, considering medical aspects.
  • Share valuable insights with families and home schools, fostering a holistic approach to each child’s well-being.

Swift Return to Education:

  • Our goal is to facilitate a swift return to long-term education settings, even for children with complex medical needs.

Teamwork and Support:

  • Collaborate with other teaching assistants, teachers, and support staff.
  • Experience the fulfilment of making a difference in children’s lives.

Requirements:

  • Compassion, patience, and flexibility.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A genuine interest in helping children succeed.
  • Prior experience in schools, education settings, or alternative provisions, especially with medical support, is necessary.
