Reed Education is seeking both part-time and full-time Teaching Assistants for special educational needs (SEN) schools in the Wakefield area, starting as soon as possible.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Work within small groups of learners, providing support throughout lessons.
  • Academic Assistance: Help each learner with their academic progress, whether re-engaging them after they go off-task or assisting with problem-solving.
  • Behavior Management: Support the class teacher in maintaining and controlling pupil behaviour, enforcing the behavioral discipline system when necessary.
  • Communication: Liaise with Managers/Behaviour Managers regarding pupil behaviours and support any serious incidents.
  • Organisation: Ensure all group work is completed, filed, and organised for the next lesson to track pupil progress and engagement.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Encouraging and Enthusiastic: A positive attitude towards supporting learners.
  • Experience: Previous experience supporting learners with ASD, Down Syndrome, and non-verbal communication.
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to implement behavior management strategies and support students in crisis.
  • Specialised Experience: Previous experience working with SEMH/SEN students and managing challenging behaviour.

  • Work Experience: Have current SEN experience within the UK, ideally in schools.
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure: Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
