We are collaborating with a Plymouth secondary school that is seeking to hire a committed and experienced SEN teaching assistant to start in September 2024. You need to have prior experience working with students who have special needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and engaging fully in classroom activities by offering support while working under the guidance and supervision of the teaching staff.

  • Take part in the design and assessment of educational activities alongside the instructor, giving them input on the students development.

  • Help the instructor maintain discipline and focus among the students by supporting their unique goals.

  • Under the close supervision of a teacher, provide assistance to students exhibiting problematic behaviour while taking support plans and risk assessments into consideration.

A successful candidate must provide the following:

  • Must have an enhanced child and adult DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for one.

  • Must provide 2 professional references.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Patient and Reliable.

  • Experience working with people with SEN / Disabilities

  • Be confident supporting children and young people

  • Work as a Care / Support worker is preferred.
