Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Southampton and surrounding areas

Start Date: September 2024

Working Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Role Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to adapt lesson plans, assist with classroom activities, and ensure each student receives the individualised attention they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist with adapting lesson plans and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Support behavioural management strategies to create a positive learning environment.
  • Foster students' social and emotional development.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, if necessary (dependent on setting).
  • Maintain clear communication with parents and other educational professionals.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS or be willing to apply for one.
