SEN Transport Assistant
  • Location: Leeds LS1
  • Salary: £13.75 per hour (PAYE)/ £16.62 Umbrella

My client are seeking a dedicated SEN Transport Assistant to provide administrative support in the delivery of Special Education Needs (SEN) and Mainstream minibus and taxi services in West Yorkshire. This role involves handling queries, maintaining records, and ensuring the smooth operation of transport services.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Maintain records of drivers for SEN and School transport services.
  • Manage taxi and minibus contract documentation, including awarding, varying, and terminating contracts.
  • Process operator invoices, reconcile charges, and authorise payments.
  • Prepare and manage Mileage Spreadsheets, calculate mileages and prices, and record contract mileage changes.
  • Handle and resolve routine complaints, escalating non-routine issues to the SEN Transport Team Leader.
  • Produce monthly statistics for taxi and minibus services and maintain the Operator Performance spreadsheet.
  • File all necessary documentation and maintain strong working relationships with Local Authorities and operators.
  • Handle operational issues and temporary contract changes, ensuring accurate records on databases.
  • Contribute to the office cover rota, making real-time decisions and escalating serious issues as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the SEN, AccessBus, and Monitoring/Survey Teams.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent relevant education/experience.
  • Practical experience in a similar administrative role.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks to a high standard.
  • Proficiency in IT packages, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good geographical knowledge of West Yorkshire.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and establish clear work plans.
  • Commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young persons, and vulnerable adults.
