My client are looking for an experienced SEN Tribunal and Mediation Officer to join their dedicated team. This role involves working closely with a mediation service, schools, families, and attending tribunal hearings when necessary. The successful candidate will also collaborate with Senior SEN Officers on complex casework, primarily linked to Education Other Than at School (EOTAS) packages and Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans for children and young people. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility with working arrangements.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work with a mediation service to facilitate discussions between schools and families.
  • Attend tribunal hearings as required, representing the council’s interests and supporting families through the process.
  • Collaborate with Senior SEN Officers on complex casework related to EOTAS packages and EHC plans.
  • Provide expert advice and support to schools, families, and other stakeholders on SEN-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and council policies in the management of cases.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to mediation and tribunal cases.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working with a mediation service, schools, and families in a similar role.
  • Experience in tribunal work, including attending hearings.
  • Strong understanding of SEN legislation and the EHC plan process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle complex casework and make informed decisions.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with strong record-keeping skills.
