Are you experienced supporting students with learning difficulties or disabilities? Do you want a new role to start for the new academic year?We are currently seeking a dedicated Additional Learning Support Assistant to join a fantastic education establishment on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, to ensure they can fully access the curriculum and achieve their potential.SEND Learning Assistant

  • Job Type: Part-time, Part-year
  • Salary: £21,312 - £21,657 for 34 hours per week, 190 days per year
  • Start Date: Immediate
Day-to-day of the role of an SEND Learning Assistant:
  • Assist the classroom teacher by supporting individual students during lessons, keeping them on task with their learning.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support student progress and achievement, helping students complete tasks to deadline and reach their full potential.
  • Support individual or small groups of students to ensure good attendance and full participation in Sixth Form life.
  • Help students navigate the Sixth Form environment, adhering to Health and Safety guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain accurate and timely formal records of student progress.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as requested by the ALS Team Leader and Additional Learning Support Manager.
  • Liaise with subject teachers, personal tutors, and parents regarding student progress.
  • Assist students with mobility equipment and personal care as needed.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to identify and support learning needs.
  • Engage in professional development activities, including appraisal.
  • Promote equal opportunities and contribute to the holistic implementation of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity.
  • Act as a 10:10 tutor and undertake other tasks as required by the Site Principal or Executive Principal

Required Skills & Qualifications for the SEND Learning Assistant role:

  • Experience in supporting young people with additional learning needs.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teaching staff and other professionals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Commitment to promoting equal opportunities and inclusivity.
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake a variety of tasks to support students.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
