Role overview:

  • Part-time:16.5 hours per week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Location: East London

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Lecturer to join our client's Supported & Inclusive Learning Department. This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for teaching learners with special educational needs and disabilities, including complex needs at pre-entry level. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, learner-centred teaching and managing complex behaviours effectively.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver teaching, learning, and assessment in a SEND setting, utilising creative, learner-centred, contextualised, and activity-based strategies and resources.
  • Manage complex behaviour and support young people and families with behaviours that challenge, including behaviour related to diagnosis.
  • Act as a course tutor, working collaboratively with students, parents, and other agencies to support learner’s engagement and success.
  • Support young people in difficulties, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Hold a full level 5 teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or DET).
  • Proven recent experience of teaching learners with special educational needs and disabilities, including complex needs at pre-entry.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering teaching, learning, and assessment in a SEND setting.
  • Experience in managing complex behaviour and supporting young people and families with behaviours that challenge.
  • Experience as a course tutor, collaborating with students, parents, and other agencies.
