We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Officer to join a dynamic team in Surrey.

Job Summary:

As a SEND Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. You will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring SEND provisions, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met. Your work will involve close collaboration with schools, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for the students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the identification, assessment, and provision for children and young people with SEND.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Monitor and review the progress of students with SEND, ensuring that appropriate adjustments and support are in place.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to teachers, support staff, and parents on SEND matters.
  • Liaise with external agencies, including educational psychologists, health professionals, and social services, to coordinate support.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and local authority policies related to SEND.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all SEND activities and interventions.
  • Promote inclusive practices and contribute to the development of a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in education, special educational needs, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a SEND role within an educational setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in IT, including experience with relevant SEND software and databases.
