Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Accelerate Teaching is looking for a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic secondary school in Kirklees. This role is set to commence in September 2024 and offers an opportunity to work within a supportive and progressive educational environment.

About the Role: As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN). You will work closely with teachers to ensure that each student receives the tailored assistance they require to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN
  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting classroom activities and helping to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and reporting to the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
  • Encouraging and promoting the development of social skills and self-regulation techniques
  • Assisting with the physical and personal care needs of students when required

What We Are Looking For: We are seeking candidates who are not only experienced but also possess a genuine passion for working with children with special needs. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • A good understanding of various special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential)
