SEND TEACHING ASSISTANT

Special school based in the London Borough of Lambeth

September 2024 start date

Full-time 5 days a week - Monday to Friday

£85-£95 p/day with a pay rise after 12 weeks in the role

Sanza Teaching Agency is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a supportive and vibrant SEND school in the London Borough of Lambeth. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting students with SEND on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
• Assisting the class teacher in creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment tailored to the needs of SEND students
• Implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans
• Monitoring and recording student progress and reporting to the class teacher and SENCO
• Providing support with personal care, mobility, and medical needs if required
• Encouraging social interaction and supporting emotional well-being
• Working collaboratively with the school's SENCO, teachers, and other support staff
• Adapting learning materials to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children with SEND in a school setting
• A patient, compassionate, and positive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Understanding of various SEND conditions and appropriate teaching strategies
