SEND TEACHING ASSISTANT

Based in a mainstream primary school in the London Borough of Croydon

£85-£95 p/day with a pay rise after 12 weeks in the role

School based experience required

September 2024 start date

About the Role

Sanza Teaching Agency is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the vibrant London Borough of Croydon. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with class teachers to support the learning and development of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored educational activities and interventions.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils, ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs and support pupils in meeting their specific goals.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Promote independence and confidence in pupils with SEND.
About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their education.
  • Experienced in supporting pupils with SEND in a primary school setting.
  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding of the unique challenges faced by pupils with additional needs.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and communicate well with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledgeable of SEND practices, strategies, and relevant legislation.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and proactive in addressing the diverse needs of pupils.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably within a primary school environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
