Position: Teaching Assistant (Ad Hoc)

Location: Chesterfield

Key Stages: KS1 & KS2

Hours: Part-Time, Flexible

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a primary school in Chesterfield. This role involves working on an ad hoc basis within our unit for pupils in Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) who have additional needs. The ideal candidate will provide crucial support to both teachers and students, ensuring a positive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Support pupils' learning and development in a range of subjects.
  • Utilise effective communication techniques to aid speech and language development.
  • Assist with the implementation of Read Write Inc phonics program.
  • Ensure the safety and well being of pupils through proper moving and handling techniques.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to enhance the educational experience for all pupils.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working with children with additional needs.
  • Knowledge and experience in speech and language support.
  • Training in Team Teach techniques.
  • Competence in moving and handling procedures.
  • Experience with the Read Write Inc phonics program is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • A Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
  • Additional training in relevant areas such as speech and language or special education needs (SEN) would be advantageous.
