The Role and Responsibilities

  • Underwriting IF, ABL and Collateralised Loans within the Credit function.
  • Assessing, analysing and interpreting complicated financial information & undertaking affordability analysis based on various financial and non-financial information.
  • Critically reviewing IF survey’ s/field exams, 3rd party.
  • Asset Valuations (Inventory, Plant and Machinery and Property) and other Collateral information.
  • Assist in structuring ABL facilities and combined.
  • IF/Collateralised Loans - working with ABL Originators
  • and ABL Portfolio Director.
  • Identifying key Risks and Mitigants in a deal.
  • Setting and modelling covenants to be be included in the Lending agreement.
  • Preparing Credit Papers for submissions to Credit.
  • Committee (primarily ABL/IF but also in conjunction with Asset Finance SME loans).
  • Be open and approachable for appeal of your decisions and have the ability to see a deal when originally you may not have.
  • Assist the wider Credit team in achieving SLA’s.
  • Identify and implement Credit Policy improvements and developments.
  • Manage manual underwriting projects, ensuring integration with other business teams.
  • Any other request deemed reasonable from your line manager.

The Requirements

  • 10+ years experience of lending and credit

operations, with direct ABL underwriting experience

  • Experience of working on deal mandate size in
  • excess of £250K+
  • Understanding of Asset Finance, SME loans and ABL/IF markets.
  • Good knowledge of key risk classes
  • Strong understanding of the sectors / markets we
  • deal in.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of
  • a team.
  • Ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with business unit managers.
  • Excellent communication skills in all forms.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated.
