The role:

To lead and manage all aspects of new and existing client accounts, ensuring effective utilisation of client budgets and the successful achievement of all targets and objectives. Key responsibilities include the ongoing development and profitability of accounts within the agency, leading client relationships and managing projects.

Responsibilities:

Client Accountability

  • Lead and develop client’s accounts within the agency.
  • Develop a strategic understanding of the client’s industry, business and their competitors. Also, establish a full understanding of the client’s internal issues, processes and policies.
  • Proactively challenge briefs and, where appropriate, lead clients in the development of the campaign briefs and strategy.
  • Ensure a consistently high level of service is provided by the Client Services team, including creation of creative briefs, presentation of creative, and its rationale to the client at all levels.
  • Conduct regular client and agency reviews to ensure all service levels are being met and any issues are identified and acted upon.

Agency Accountability

  • Identify new business opportunities within client projects and work with the New Business team to develop and win new business.
  • Lead clients and their projects within the agency, ensuring all appropriate agency personnel maintain a full understanding of the client’s requirements.
  • Proactively review and analyse competitor and market activity and identify any implications to the client’s business.
  • Help to lead, motivate and develop more junior members of the account team to ensure an effective service to clients and other areas of the agency.
  • Report on client accounts, financial performance and plans for account development to the Senior Management team as and when required, contributing to the successful performance of the Client Services Team and the business as a whole.
  • Identify resource requirements throughout the agency and work with the Operations Director to effectively resolve these.

Financial Accountability

  • Maintain account profitability, monitoring agency costs and external costs.
  • Production of accurate forecasts for all accounts, based upon client budgets and planning processes.
  • Contribute to the planning and forecasting process, including reporting on planned vs actual performance, regular reforecasting and implementing remedial actions where plans are not being met.
  • Ensure all work is accurately estimated, within agreed contractual or standard terms and that all invoicing is scheduled.
  • Represent the agency on any financial negotiation with client, including setting of rates, establishing retainers and dealing with non-payments.
  • Ensure all projects run profitably, in line with forecasts and that in-costs are in line with expectations.
  • Consistently evaluate client and team profitability.

The successful candidate:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a creative agency, with demonstrable experience of working at Senior Account Manager level.
  • An excellent grasp of numbers with experience of managing complex budgets.
  • Experience of scheduling projects.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude to work and the ability to problem solve.
