Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading public sector organisation in their search for a Principal Accountant to join their Finance team on a permanent basis.


Based in Cheshire, this is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional to step into a senior-level role with real strategic influence and impact across the organisation.

Salary/Benefits:
  • £50,000 - £57,000 per annum (DOE)
  • 37 hours per week
  • Temporary / temp to perm

Job Duties:
  • Lead and develop the Finance Team in delivering services such as statutory accounts, budget setting, and treasury management
  • Advise senior officers and stakeholders on strategic and tactical financial issues
  • Provide financial insight aligned to corporate strategy and performance planning
  • Deputise for the Head of Finance when required
  • Oversee financial systems and ensure robust internal controls
  • Deliver financial training and support to non-financial managers
  • Support external audit relationships and ensure effective financial compliance
  • Represent the Finance function on cross-departmental projects
Who will I report into?


Head of Finance

Ideal experience:
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in senior-level financial and staff management
  • Knowledge of public sector finance highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to present complex financial data to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to influence and lead effectively
