The Senior Battery Analyst, will be a member of the Global Commercial and Markets Team, within the Global Development Team at Brookfield Renewable Power and Transition

As a Battery Storage Analyst, you will play a unique role in understanding and reviewing the revenue models associated with utility-scale battery projects in diverse global markets. Brookfield is set to become the largest and most diversified developer and owner of battery storage globally. Your responsibilities will encompass analyzing project economics, identify and monitor key revenue streams, devise derisking commercial plans, and implementing strategies to maximize risk-adjusted returns for both large M&A opportunities and Brookfield's portfolio development efforts. You will collaborate closely with internal Brookfield teams, portfolio companies and external partners to drive informed decision-making and ensure the success of our investments in energy storage. Moreover, you will actively engage with portfolio companies, providing support to ensure the successful execution of their battery business plans and fostering growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Model Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis of revenue models for utility-scale battery storage projects in multiple jurisdictions, considering factors such as market structures, grid regulation, energy and non-energy market dynamics, incentive programs.

Portfolio Optimization: Evaluate the performance and economics of our existing portfolio of battery storage projects, identifying opportunities for optimization and value enhancement.

Risk Assessment: Assess risks associated with revenue generation, including market volatility, policy changes, technological advancements, and operational factors, and develop mitigation strategies.

Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, policy developments, and emerging technologies and commercial products related to battery storage, providing regular updates and insights to inform investment decisions.

Cross-Project Learning: Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices across our portfolio of operating projects and projects under development, fostering a culture of support improvement and innovation.

Due Diligence Support: Support the due diligence process for new investment opportunities, providing expertise on battery storage economics and revenue potential.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, developers, and regulatory authorities to gather insights and facilitate project development and execution.

Reporting and Presentation: Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and recommendations for management, portfolio companies and other stakeholders, effectively communicating complex concepts and analysis results.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field.

3-5 years proven experience in storage investment or battery development and asset optimization

Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in excel modelling, data analysis, and quantitative methods (Python, MATLAB welcomed)

Knowledge of energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and revenue streams for utility-scale battery storage projects.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across the globe.

Self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work and driving results.
