We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide support to the School Admissions team within the local authority in Sheffield. This role is based in the bustling city centre and offers a chance to be part of a vital service that helps parents and children navigate the school admissions process.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Answering the telephone using STORM to handle enquiries about school places, checking the database (Capita1) for application status, or dispatching application forms to parents. This role involves managing a busy phone line from 9 am to 5 pm on a rota basis with another business support officer.
  • Processing incoming post, which includes scanning application forms and entering them into our database (Capita1).
  • Managing communication with schools using a secure system (Anycomms), including processing transfer applications by entering them into our database (Capita1).
  • Responding to emails sent to the ed-admissions inbox, such as checking the status of application forms and actioning new applications received via email.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle a high volume of calls and enquiries.
  • Proficiency in using databases, ideally with experience using Capita1, although training will be provided.
  • Ability to process and manage a high volume of post and email correspondence accurately and efficiently.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
