A global, premium food retailer, is looking to recruit for a senior buyer to join its established team in London. Part of one of the largest companies in the world, this retailer specialises in providing the highest quality product to its customers. The role of senior buyer will cover the cheese, antipasti, wines, beers and spirits category. This is one of the most important categories within the company, the departments are loved by foodies and are the pinnacle of differentiation between it and its competitors. In this role you will champion the suppliers they use and tell the stories about their craftsmanship, inherited practices, and USPs. You will own the commercial strategy and lead a team of four to deliver the sales performance required. The role needs a leader who understands supply chain and commerciality to build a program that both shows off the best-in-class products whilst delivering financial success.

The successful candidate will have built up a wealth of knowledge and a supplier base within the cheese category. Having experience in antipasti, beers, wines and spirits is also advantageous. This can be from a commercial buying function or through a supply chain function. You’ll be highly experienced in tender and RFP processes and will have a strong knowledge of the product sector. You’ll be able to build and develop strong working partnerships and have demonstrable experience of growing both internal and external stakeholder relationships.

In return the role is paying up to £95,000 as a basic salary, depending on experience. The role offers hybrid working with three days in the office and two from home, core office days are Wednesday and Thursday, there is flexibility around the third working day. The office is based in the City of London and is in an impressive building, sharing it with the parent company.
