They are now looking for an experienced Senior Buyer with a strong background in chemicals to join their dynamic team in Manchester.


Your new role
As a Senior Chemicals Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement team, focusing on sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing for the company's chemical needs as part of their manufacturing process. You will be responsible for managing Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and maintaining strong communication with various production sites. This role requires semi-regular travel to meet with stakeholders and suppliers across Europe, approximately 1-2 times per month.

Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best quality and pricing for chemical products.
- Manage the end-to-end RFQ process, from initial request to final supplier selection.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with production sites to understand and meet their chemical material needs.
- Travel to Europe (1-2 times per month) to engage with key stakeholders including colleagues in European offices, as well as suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

What you'll need to succeed

Extensive background in chemicals procurement with a proven track record.- Strong negotiation and communication skills.- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.- Willingness to travel to Europe regularly.- Experience with RFQ processes and supplier management.- Proficiency in procurement software and tools. This company uses SAP so any experience with SAP would be advantageous- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
