An exciting new opportunity to work for an engineering leader in the procurement and supply chain sector, is currently seeking a Senior Buyer on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to join the Performance Products division, specialising in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. The division delivers niche volume products and consultancy across various industries including Automotive, Marine, Rail, Aerospace, and Green Propulsion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meeting with clients to discuss requirements and coordinate supply chain activities between suppliers, clients, and engineering/project teams.
  • Maintaining and promoting relationships with clients, suppliers, and our clients community.
  • Procuring project goods, including bespoke parts, tooling, design/development, and other technical services.
  • Managing competitive bidding, negotiating prices, and reporting cost-reduction achievements.
  • Liaising with suppliers and engineering teams on design feasibility issues, expediting orders, and managing concessions or returns.
  • Controlling spend against budget and forecasting project completion.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential supply partners, assessing financial risk and sustainability.
  • Leading cost estimation activities during product concept phases and supporting business development on bid preparation.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in procurement or a similar role, preferably within the automotive or marine sector.
  • Strong data management skills and IT literacy, with experience in SAP and Info LN Purchasing being an advantage.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to close deals swiftly.
  • Experience with procurement processes, including BoMs, PO processes, and familiarity with technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of contract law and experience in contract negotiation, implementation, and management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within a cross-functional team and at all levels.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) is desirable.
  • Understanding of sustainable procurement principles and ESG factors.
  • Flexibility to support travel to domestic and international suppliers, and a valid driving licence.
