Job Title: Senior Buyer

Location: Basildon

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum

Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time

Driving Required: Yes - due to location


Our client, a leading organisation, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Buyer to join their procurement team. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a crucial role in steering the Director and Senior team members towards informed strategic and operational decision-making by providing accurate information and sound commercial judgement.

Responsibilities:

  • Forecast levels of demand for services and products.
  • Conduct research to source the best products and suppliers regarding value, delivery schedules, and quality.
  • Continuously gather, analyse, interpret, and act upon market intelligence.
  • Assist in managing day-to-day procurement operations and ensure key metrics are delivered.
  • Negotiate and agree on contracts, monitor the quality of service provided, and ensure compliance with legal terms.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships aligned with strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Accountable for successful supplier performance management and negotiation of supply agreements.
  • Analyse data to produce reports on spending and savings.
  • Identify and assess procurement risks, develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure the supply chain meets ethical and net carbon plans.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends.
  • Motivate and performance manage direct reports.
  • Hold monthly 1-1 meetings with direct reports.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Manager.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
