A highly successful and reputable not-for-profit business in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced procurement leader to join their team for a 12-month fixed-term contract. This multi-award winning company has an excellent reputation and is known for being a great employer in the local area.

Your new role
The Senior Category Manager will be responsible for the strategic management and ownership of the Repairs and Operations spend category, which will entail devising and implementing effective strategies which deliver the best value for money. You will liaise with and negotiate with suppliers to ensure that the organisation has watertight contracts in place and that optimal value is being achieved. The Senior Procurement Category Manager will provide guidance and procurement advice to colleagues and departments around the organisation to advise them on the different routes to market available, the different sourcing and contract options, and the best pricing strategies. In this role, you will also analyse spend reports and identify any potential issues, and will work closely with the Head of Procurement to resolve.

This role is based in Manchester, but only requires an office presence a few days per month, or when required for business needs / important meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A detailed understanding and experience of working under Public Contract Regulations (PCR2015)
  • Ideally you will be MCIPS or working towards qualification
  • Experience of category management within the UK public sector or non-profit sector
  • Experience of supply chain management and vendor management
  • Strong understanding of contract management and contractual terms in relation to procurement operations
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • To be available to start a 12 month fixed-term contract ASAP (within the next few weeks)
