Altum Consulting have the pleasure of working exclusively with a household name in broadcasting to secure a experienced finance professional to assume the newly created role of Senior Finance Manager.

The purpose of the role is to lead the centralised management accounts team which focuses on the periodic management accounts of the operational pillars of the business and its service departments. Reporting to the Head of Group Reporting and managing a team of c.14 people with 2 direct reports. Core remit to closely manage the Group Accounting Managers (Operations, Corporate and Consolidations) on the periodic reporting timetable and deliverables (relating to the P&L, Capex, Cash, headcount etc) of the business and maintain the controls and related tracking systems.

Key Responsibilities,

Business Support

  • Lead and manage the Accounting Managers who directly manage the day-to-day management accounts teams (MA's, AMA's and Apprentices)
  • Be the dedicated and specialist management accounts related lead for the Head of Group Reporting and the Group Financial Controller
  • Responsible for building close working relationships with the key business operating budget holders and providing the conduit for information, analysis and resource as required in relation to periodic management accounts information
  • Work closely with the Finance Business Partners and FP&A team to build sound working relationships, supporting the timely and accurate exchange of periodic performance information
  • Deliver accurate and timely information on all periodic management accounts related information, formats, controls, analysis and commentaries or reports.
  • Work with the FP&A team and respective Business Partners to further support understanding of how current performance should be incorporated in the rolling FY forward looking plans.
  • Establish good working relationships with the external audit team and lead the year end audit and statutory accounts processes from a management accounts perspective
  • Establish good working relationships with the internal audit team and lead on the projects and internal audit workstreams as required
  • Management Reporting
  • Responsible for the consolidated, periodic reporting timetable and related deliverables of all the operational and service departments of
  • Lead the centralised team of management accountants who compile and deliver the following information, ensuring completeness, timeliness and accuracy across all areas including;
  • monthly, quarterly, annual accounts
  • all revenues, working with the applicable commercial and/or FP&A team
  • all costs, esp content related (P&L and stock items)
  • all related, accurate accruals and prepayments
  • all relevant and accurate month-end postings and/or period-end adjustments
  • all relevant ad-hoc analysis and reporting
  • timeliness, completeness and evidence of all required reconciliations and/or controls including the tracking tools being updated.
  • Provision of any and all periodic commentary for use and by GFC, Head of Group Reporting, business budget holders and/or FBP and FP&A
  • Establish, lead and/or attend all relevant meetings with stakeholders to ensure the timely updating and transfer of all relevant periodic performance information
  • Own and manage the management accounts periodic timetable and deliverables schedules
  • Leading regular team meetings with Accounting Manager(s) and team as required, to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are understood, being produced and on-track in accordance with the management accounts periodic timetable
  • Review and sign off on all group management accounts report packs and dashboards

Team Support

  • Review, organise and monitor all work streams carried out across the Reporting and Control accounting functions
  • Work with the GFC on all work streams as required carried out across the Reporting and Control accounting functions
  • Establish and manage good working relationships with external auditors
  • Establish and manage good working relationships with the Internal Audit team, leading on controls, efficiency, reporting and related project.

Other

  • Support any analysis, reports and/or presentations for executive groups or committees including EMB, Audit & Risk Committees, Remuneration Committee and or the Board.
  • Provide ad-hoc support for the Head of Group Reporting or Group Financial Controller as required

Experience Required,

  • Financial qualification with 7+ years relevant, post qualified management accounting experience
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and leading management accounts teams and processes in relatively large and/or complex organisations
  • Demonstrable experience of consolidations and managing control environments and/or processes/requirements
  • Experience of recognised financial information system, preferably Oracle and Workday
  • Advanced Excel Skills and intermediate Word / Powerpoint
  • Enthusiastic and self motivated team player
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexible and able to work to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrable ability to improve / give valuable contribution to improvement in systems and processes
