Seeking an experienced, senior HSE Manager to take the lead for Health, Safety, Environment and Risk across the company. The successful candidate will come in, deliver a detailed gap analysis of the sites covering all aspects of HSER, prioritise and close gaps to ensure compliance. Additionally, create and implement a cultural change programme.  Taking the company on a journey from reactive to proactive;  where safety and production go hand in hand and everyone is engaged, taking ownership of safety.

Main responsibilities;
  • Establish a strong platform for HSER for the company, ensuring that there are appropriate systems, processes, procedures, audits, and monitoring in place to ensure that compliance with all relevant health and safety requirements is being delivered.
  • Collaborate and work with functional leaders and teams to implement systems and procedures to raise the standards of health and safety in the organisation
  • Confidently create and implement effective business continuity plans ( emergency response, crisis management and recovery plan)  to minimize disruption to critical functions
  • To design and deliver comprehensive and competent health and safety training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring there are appropriate controls in place to ensure competence is maintained
  • Provide an expert service in incident management and root cause analysis, supporting and ensuring the timely and thorough reporting and investigation of incidents, the identification of corrective actions and the monitoring and reporting to completion.
  • To lead the company on a cultural journey towards zero harm, encourage positive safety behaviours and empower the workforce to take accountability for HSE.
  • Providing a visible and hands on approach to HSE, lead regular walk rounds through the facilities encouraging positive safety conversations
  • Coach and mentor the on site, HSE Manager and offer support to the site leadership team
  • Currently there is a large investment programme in place, to develop the site following the recent acquisition, lots of projects to put their own stamp on. For example, implement a safety by design concept, cultural programme, rolling out new systems and processes and implement this around full production.

Essential qualifications and experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or equivalent
  • Experienced within a fast paced and high-risk manufacturing environment, ideally within the food, dairy, automotive, chemical, beverage, paper or packaging sectors
  • Proven to support and take company on a cultural and behavioural change journey

  • Able to influence, engage, gain buy -in with strong communication skills
  • Empower all levels of workforce, all the way up to stakeholder/ Director level
