Major Recruitment is currently recruiting for Senior Housing Enforcement Officer in Rickmansworth

  • 37 Hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • To be the lead Officer responsible for the inspection of residential properties under Housing Health & Safety Rating System to identify and rate hazards in accordance with guidance issued under S9 of the Housing Act 2004.
  • Provide complex technical and professional advice, guidance, consultation and solutions to customers, staff, colleagues and external agencies to meet service delivery requirements
  • To be the knowledge hub in the Council on all aspects (strategic and operational) of areas of specialism including legislation, guidance, best practice
  • Responsible for obtaining and preserving evidence to progress cases in accordance with PACE, including photographs, video recordings, seized items and any other articles such as PACE interview tapes and notes
  • Responsible for preparing cases for prosecution and appeals and presenting evidence in Court and the Residential Property Tribunal. Also responsible for assisting the solicitor to the Council and any other legal advisor, such as Counsel or Barrister

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Expertise

  • Degree/Diploma or equivalent qualification in environmental health
  • Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) or Chartered Status achieved.An up to date overview of all aspects of environmental health and public health
  • Contribute towards safeguarding within the Council and ensure the safeguarding policy regarding children and vulnerable adults is followed. This includes being Level 1 safeguarding trained
