Senior IAM Engineer – Identity and Access Management

Rate: £600-700pd
Inside IR35 - 6 months contract  
Oxford – Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Overview:
An excellent opportunity has arisen with a global life science company for an experienced Senior IAM Engineer to join the team. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and architecting the IAM infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of IAM principles and hands-on experience with the specified technologies including Okta, and the ability to drive security initiatives across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage IAM solutions using AWS IAM, Okta, Active Directory, and EntraID.
  • Develop and maintain IAM policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular IAM audits and assessments to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate IAM solutions with various applications and systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for IAM-related projects and initiatives.
  • Stay current with the latest IAM technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior IAM engineers and other IT staff on IAM concepts and technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IAM issues and incidents.
  • Take ownership to resolve issues related to identities, systems access, accounts, authentication, authorisation, entitlements, and permissions - whilst producing guides, tooling, automation and sharing knowledge to empower our Service Desk where possible.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IAM engineering or a related role
  • Extensive experience with AWS IAM, Okta, Active Directory, and EntraID
  • Strong understanding of IAM principles, including authentication, authorization, and federation
  • IAM architecture experience
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing IAM solutions in complex environments
  • Knowledge of network security technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Okta Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate) are a plus
