Locum Senior Information Governance Officer – Part Time – Hybrid Working – Midlands Local Authority

Venn Group is recruiting for a Locum Senior Information Governance Officer to join a Midlands based Local Authority on an initial 6-month contract. This hybrid role is part-time (3-4 days per week), with 1 day per week in the office. Hourly rates are flexible, depending on experience.

As this is a completely new role, the appointed candidate must be a DPA/FOI expert and able to work autonomously under the Legal and Information Governance Manager (DPO).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish new ways of working and implement new systems for processing FOIs and SRAs, working with the Council’s eCase system.
  • Act as a key point of contact for data protection, FOI, and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR).
  • Develop and manage Information Governance systems to ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues on data protection and information governance matters.
  • Process and oversee FOI and Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Support and deputise for the Legal and Information Governance Manager (DPO).
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions on information governance.
  • Maintain and update policies, privacy notices, and records retention.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Information Governance professional to contribute to a Local Authority.
