Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel - Contentious Construction

Contract Type: 12 Month FTC

Salary - up to £90,000

Our client, a leading FTSE listed organisation in the construction and development sector, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their dynamic Group Legal and Compliance team. As a valuable member of this team, you will provide expert advert in relation to complex construction and commercial litigation matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for advising on contentious legal matters, either independently or in collaboration with the Group Legal team and external lawyers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the organisation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Monitor and manage external legal spend, identifying opportunities to enhance value from existing law firm relationships.
  • Report regularly on key activities and progress of matters.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing within the Group Legal team and other relevant departments.
  • Providing supervision, coaching, and mentorship to junior members in the team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years' PQE.
  • Senior Commercial or Construction Litigation background, with experience in litigious negotiation and settlement activities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational, management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ideally, previous experience in-house for a large corporation or a senior litigation position within private practice.
  • Prior experience in the construction / development sector is advantageous.
