This senior role involves working with one of our longstanding clients, supporting the cross-disciplinary private equity leadership team in their stewardship of firm-wide private equity (PE) activities.

The firm has experienced accelerated income from private equity houses and PE-backed businesses, reaching £181 million in FY23 (25% higher than the prior year).

As the firm’s growth plans in the private equity space continue, ethics remains a critical focus for audit firms and their networks. Fulfilling regulatory requirements and meeting public interest independence responsibilities are paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the cross-disciplinary Private Equity Leadership team’s stewardship of firm-wide PE activities.
  • Upskilling practitioners in all streams by working with both the Ethics and Learning & Development teams to identify and navigate opportunities and possible conflicts.
  • Managing MSA obligations and globally restricted lists in collaboration with other international member firms.
  • Supporting the KAMA program from a family tree/independence perspective.
  • Serving as the record keeper for the PE Designation committee.
  • Guiding PE practitioners in all streams (as the subject matter expert for PE) to raise awareness of the correct processes for targeting/understanding affiliates and handling hospitality/entertainment.
  • Collaborating with global project teams to influence the development of systems that incorporate the UK firm’s regulatory and firm-wide requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience interpreting and applying ethical standards or a similar regulatory framework.
  • An interest and understanding in PE(eg family tree) is required but experience is not essential.
  • Minimum experience required 3/4 + years at Manager/SM level in an Ethics and Independence role
  • Awareness of UK and international codes of ethics.
  • Proficiency in interpreting regulations and applying rules practically.
  • Understanding of risk management and conflict of interest principles and their practical application.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) to confidently interact with people at all levels.
  • The ability to quickly build trusted relationships with senior practitioners.
  • Independence and collaborative problem-solving skills for complex tasks and projects.
