Job Title: Interim Procurement Specialist (MCIPS Qualified)
Location: Derbyshire - Hybrid - 3 days in office (Monday & Wednesday are defined office days)
Contract Type: Interim/Temporary
Duration: 6 months
Day Rate: £250 - £280 via Umbrella


About the Role: Concept - IT are delighted to be working with a local government organisation as they look to recruit an experienced Interim Procurement Specialist to join their team on a temporary basis. The ideal candidate will possess MCIPS qualification and have a robust background in public sector procurement, preferably within local government. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact within their procurement function, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and value for money in their procurement processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring compliance with public sector regulations and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with organisational goals.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify and capitalise on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead contract negotiations, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
  • Oversee supplier performance, managing relationships and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Provide expert advice and support to stakeholders on procurement best practices.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all procurement activities.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement policies and procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • MCIPS qualification is essential.
  • Extensive experience in public sector procurement, with a strong preference for local government experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of public procurement regulations and best practices.
  • Proven track record of managing complex procurement projects and achieving significant cost savings.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
