Role Summary

Underwriting Property & Casualty (Existing Business) risks under broad supervision, working within specific authority limits on assignments that require significant technical complexity and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing applications and financial requirements for risks requiring sophisticated underwriting skills, and determining the acceptability of risk.
  • Determining appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis.
  • Preparing quotations and answering questions from Brokers and other internal / external contacts.
  • Negotiating with Brokers to reach positive and profitable outcomes, and notifying them of any changes.
  • Analysing the quality and quantity of risks underwritten and preparing reports for management review.
  • Marketing products and services through the brokerage community and making field visits, whilst developing and maintaining Broker relationships.

Key Requirements

  • Must have significant experience within a Property & Casualty Underwriter role, with strong technical expertise.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills.
  • Very high interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
