Senior Quantity Surveyor

6 Month Contract (Possibility of extension)

Site located in Northumberland

£450 – 470 per shift paid via Umbrella PAYE

My Tier 1 client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their rail division on a contract basis to support the team with an increase in workload.

Responsibilities:

  • To understand the procurement process and targets in securing the services of Sub-Contractors/Suppliers/Design Consultants
  • Maximum value for money is achieved.
  • Raise commercial awareness and embed commercial focus and best practise across each project team
  • Assisting in the preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, drawings
  • Set and manage budgets ensuring all costs are correctly allocated into the relevant WBS
  • Proactively drive the recording of all contractual entitlements, ensure timely notification of events and accurate pricing and substantiation of change
  • Establishment of robust project life cycle cost forecasts updated monthly and monitored against agreed targets
  • Notify Managing Surveyor, Civils Director and Project Manager of any commercial disagreements with Employer and Sub-Contractors / Suppliers

Requirements:

  • Experience in heavy civil projects (Rail)
  • Worked dealing with subcontracts
  • BSc Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Worked with / for Tier 1 contractors
  • Experience with NEC contracts
  • Negotiation training
  • Presentation skills
