A leading infrastructure provider specialising in civil engineering, utilities, and construction services is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role involves working on high-profile projects across the UK in sectors such as utilities, infrastructure, and data centres.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor's role

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships, ensuring accurate monthly project forecasting and commercial reporting. This role requires the safe archiving and backup of all relevant commercial information to industry standards. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage monthly commercial and health check reporting, ensuring precise month-end CVR reporting. Additionally, the role involves managing risks and opportunities, maintaining cash-flow, mentoring team members, and ensuring all commercial activities are conducted ethically.

Exciting new opportunity

This role will concentrate on Utilities Environmental and Renewable projects throughout the UK, presenting an interesting and diverse portfolio valued at approximately £10 million. Candidates must be prepared to travel extensively across the UK to oversee these projects. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead a team comprising two Quantity Surveyors and an Assistant, managing contracts under JCT and NEC terms.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject
  • 5 years of commercial experience in the utility and construction sectors
  • Working knowledge of contract law and commercial practices
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and procurement documents
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a confident, resilient approach
  • Excellent commercial management skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in presentation and negotiation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and commercial awareness
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Experience in managing and monitoring risk
  • Honest and reliable

  • Ideal candidates will have a strong background in utilities but flexible for those with transferable skills and willingness to travel across the UK
