Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner for our client within their new 4-bed home in Reading. This role involves providing care and support to children in a challenging environment. You will play a key role in shaping a new Children's Home, offering a safe, consistent, and non-judgmental approach to children who have experienced trauma and abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
* Daily Support: Assist with personal hygiene, medication, and daily routines.
* Meal Planning: Cook and plan menus with the children.
* Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and well-kept home.
* Safeguarding: Protect and advocate for young people, raising concerns as needed.
* Education Support: Help with homework, liaise with schools, and attend academic reviews.
* Team Leadership: Manage shifts and daily operations.
* Report Writing: Maintain records and complete daily reports.
* Activity Coordination: Plan and engage in social activities and holidays.
* Professional Relationships: Work with external agencies and professionals.
* Key Worker Tasks: Manage keyworker responsibilities and assign tasks to staff.
* Independence Support: Promote independence and appropriate social behaviour.
Candidate Requirements:
* Commitment: Engage with children with challenging behaviours and histories.
* Relationship Building: Create positive, supportive relationships.
* Calm Under Pressure: Remain composed in stressful situations.
* Flexibility: Work shifts, including weekends and holidays, and undertake sleep-ins.
* Initiative and Resilience: Work autonomously and handle risk.
* Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar environment.
* Education: NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People Workforce (Essential).
* Driving License: Full, clean UK Driving License (Preferred).
