Senior Risk Scientist - Bristol (Hybrid) - £70k to 85k

Are you an experienced Senior Risk Scientist looking for an exciting opportunity in the cyber reinsurance industry? Our client, a leading organisation in the field, is seeking a talented individual to join their dynamic team as Senior Risk Scientist.

The Role:

As a key contributor to our client's proprietary cyber risk estimation system, you will play a critical role in the ongoing development and enhancement of the system. Your expertise in large-scale stochastic model development and high-performance scientific computing will be utilised to ensure the robustness and performance of the system in assessing cyber risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new data sources and methodologies into the system.
  • Conduct advanced statistical analyses, industry and threat analysis, and reporting to support cyber risk assessment.
  • Optimise computational performance and scalability of the system's simulation.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cyber risk measurement & estimation, data science, and high-performance computing to continuously improve the system's capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in risk/catastrophe modelling, actuarial science, quantitative finance, data science, or a similar discipline involving large-scale simulation of correlated events and extreme scenarios.
  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale stochastic model development and high-performance scientific computing.
  • Real-world commercial expertise in statistical modelling and probability.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools commonly used in scientific computing and data analysis, including scientific Python, Spark, CUDA, and SQL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience in cyber insurance or cyber security is beneficial but not essential.
  • A degree in a STEM field or equivalent industrial experience.
