Position: Senior Setting Out Engineer
Location: Dounreay
Hours: Full-time position with potential for overtime based on project demands
Salary: £55k - £65k DOE

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Senior Setting Out Engineer to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will lead and oversee setting out activities on complex construction projects, ensuring precision and adherence to engineering standards. This role demands extensive technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of setting out engineers and surveyors, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work.
  • Accurately establish site boundaries, reference points, and levels for all construction activities.
  • Utilise advanced surveying equipment and techniques.
  • Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to plan and execute setting out activities in line with project timelines and budgets.
  • Provide expert technical advice and solutions for complex setting out and surveying challenges.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all work meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all setting out and surveying activities, including detailed reports, drawings, and calculations.
  • Ensure all setting out operations comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in setting out engineering, with a significant portion in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Advanced proficiency with surveying instruments and software (e.g., total stations, GPS, AutoCAD, BIM).
  • In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily on construction sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands. May require travel to various project sites.
