A rapidly growing tax consultancy firm is currently seeking an experienced Tax Claims Consultant to join the team,part-time and remotely. If you have a broad understanding of tax and are looking for a flexible role that allows you to work from home, we want to hear from you!

Position: Part-Time Remote Tax Consultant

About the Role:

In this role, you will work in a Tax Claims Department, responsible for evaluating, approving, and advising accountancy clients on claims made under certain Insurance Policies. These claims primarily involve HMRC tax enquiries, PAYE, and VAT compliance visits.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experienced Professionals: Hands-on experience in preparing and submitting corporation and income tax returns.
  • Knowledgeable: Some familiarity with PAYE and VAT, gained from working with HMRC or in a practice setting.
  • Excellent Communicators: Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible: Able to work independently from home and manage your time effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the dedicated claims handling contact for a portfolio of accountancy firm clients.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for our accountancy clients, providing telephone advice on policy coverage and HMRC enquiries.
  • Review and approve new claims, increased fee authorisations, and payments through our claims portal within agreed SLAs.
  • Evaluate fees incurred against the work required to handle HMRC enquiries, ensuring compliance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Understand HMRC's approach to enquiries and provide tactical advice to accountants.
  • Manage claims in a manner that safeguards the insurer while maintaining and enhancing client relationships.
  • Draft informative articles for our client information streams.
  • Collaborate with other claims handlers and tax/VAT consultancy teams.
  • Demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and a positive attitude in all interactions.
