Senior Underwriter – QBE Portfolio Solutions (QPS)

QPS is continuing our exceptional growth and hiring for a newly created Senior Underwriter role in our London based team in one of the fastest growing and most profitable divisions within QBE’s Insurance Division - . QPS’ offering provides broad coverage across broker facilities, consortia / MGA platforms and algorithmic underwriting within multiple product lines and territories. Our portfolio solutions team has expanded from just 1 to 12 members in the past 4 years, reflecting our commitment to growth and excellence. Your Role:

• Be instrumental in the review and analysis of both the existing portfolio as well as individual facilities / accounts to ensure continued profitability throughout the market cycle and promote both organic and non-organic growth
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximise influence
• Participate fully and use your expertise to shape and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
• Follow the annual business plan for the portfolio and its context to be able to make decisions appropriately
• Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency
• Actively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriately

About You:

• Notable underwriting experience either in an open market, reinsurance or binders capacity.
• Ability to transfer individual line of business underwriting skills / experiences to a broader set of insurance problems. Specific ‘portfolio underwriting’ experience is not required.
• Clear ability to build rapport and credibility with varying stakeholders within a market-facing role
• Data analysis skills with the ability to identify, manipulate and analyse large datasets in order to help make underwriting decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to produce detailed reports at various levels
• Good organisation skills with ability to work to deadlines
• Flexible approach and ability to recognise and adapt to changing business requirements
