Our client, SMT GB, are a leading full-service distribution and after-sales specialist in Volvo construction machinery and trucks, material handling and recycling equipment. They have an international footprint that spreads from Europe to Africa to the United States, operating in over 30 countries with over 2,000 employees.

SMT are looking for a motivated individual to lead their well-established and professional team of engineers in Horsham. The role requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

About the Role

As a Senior Workshop Engineer, you will lead and oversee the daily operations of the workshop, provide technical expertise, maintain a safe and efficient working environment as well as supervising a team of technicians, coordinating tasks ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of workshop technicians
  • Coordinate daily tasks
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair and servicing of Volvo plant machinery
  • Conduct quality checks
  • Implement and enforce health and safety
  • Hands on
  • Carry out machine inspection and quotes

Must Have’s

  • Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or Land Based Engineering
  • 4-5 years of current experience in a workshop or field-based role (Heavy plant/Construction/Agriculture)
  • An understanding of hydraulics and electronics
  • Health and Safety knowledge and experience
  • Proven leadership/management experience
  • Full UK driving licence
